What are Data Spaces?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Imagine a secure and trusted digital ecosystem where companies, both large and small, can share and access data in a controlled and fair manner. That is, in essence, a data space. It's not about a single giant repository, but about a federated network of infrastructures and standards<\/strong> that allow the exchange of data between specific participants, while maintaining control over who accesses what and under what conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These spaces are built on principles of data sovereignty<\/strong>The information owners maintain full control over the use of the information. They are based on technologies such as cloud computing<\/strong>the artificial intelligence<\/strong> and the blockchain<\/strong> to ensure security, transparency and interoperability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Data Spaces in Spain and Europe: At a Glance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The European Union is actively promoting the creation of sectoral data spaces<\/strong> in key areas such as health<\/strong>the mobility<\/strong>the agriculture<\/strong>the energy<\/strong> and the manufacturing<\/strong>. The goal is to break down data silos and foster innovation through collaboration. Initiatives such as the European Data Strategy<\/strong> and the Data Governance Act<\/strong> are the legal framework supporting this ambition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Spain, the digital agenda is also aligned with this European vision. The following are being developed specific strategies and projects<\/strong> to facilitate business participation, with a particular focus on the digitization of SMEs and the creation of an enabling environment for data sharing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gaia-X Spain Hub<\/strong> (Asociaci\u00f3n Gaia-X Espa\u00f1a) is the main actor at the national level that articulates and promotes the creation of these data spaces under the Gaia-X principles, which in turn incorporate many of the IDSA standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
